This is me playing a self-transcribed drum solo by Vinnie Colaiuta. The original solo is from Warren Cuccurullo's album Thanks To Frank, the track is Indian Time Zones.
The sound is captured by a very simple home recording set: 2 x Audio-Technica PRO 37 (A-B positioned overheads) and Beyerdynamic Opus 65 (kick mic inside the drum). These go throug...

Heres a rare video of Dave Weckl, and Vinnie Colaiuta, on stage together with Chick Corea, Frank Gambale and others.
The audio is just ok; I certainly wish it were better, but regardless, its still a killer video of (in my opinion) 2 of the greatest drummers ever.

I was blown away the first time I heard this track. When the album came out I set about doing a midi version so I could play along. I just used to blag the solo. A couple of weeks ago I decided it was time to learn the proper solo so I spent a couple of hours transcribing it and a couple of days getting my head around playing it. This is the first ...
This is an AUDIO ONLY recording of Oz Noy and his trio featuring Vinnie Colaiuta(D) & Jimmy Johnson(B) This was recorded live at Catalina Bar & Grill in LA 10/25/06 performing Oz's "Just Groove Me" from his 1st record "Oz Live"... To my knowledge this is the only show that this particular line up has ever played together. They played two absolutely...

This is part 1 of the song "New Waltz"at the Blue Note Japan. Beautiful music played by three great musicians from 1992. I think Chick and John were both digging and feeling Vinnie out as they hadn't played together much as a trio to this point. Vinnie had committed to Sting and had recently come off a world tour with him prior to this. One can onl...
No, I dont REALLY think this is the best drum beat ever. I think its great, but not the best. (who is to say what the best is, anyway?) Anyway, this is old school Vinnie, 1985 or so. It just sounds so bad-ass. Lots of people say they can do it, but Ive yet so see someone duplicate it correctly, and with the same feel.
