The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II[2] is a two-seat supersonic long-range all-weather fighter-bomber developed for the U.S. Navy by McDonnell Douglas. The Phantom flew in U.S. service from 1960 to 1996; it also served with the armed forces of eleven other nations. As of 2001, more than 1,000 F-4s remained in service around the world.
A 1992 report by Sugano et al describes an experiment involving the crash of an F-4D Phangom jet fighter jet into a 10-foot-thick (3.04 meters) concrete block at 480 mph (772 km/h). In the experiment, the fighter is reduced to confetti, leaving no large pieces of debris.

Videographed during the 2006 Reno Air Races, I had hoped to get the combination flying in blue sky this year but it wasn't to be. This was probably the first time I had seen a F-4 fly in forty years.
