One we did for Welsh rockers Skin in the mid-nineties. Unfortunately, the video commissioner for the label at the time used to insist that her BF re-edit loads of videos she commissioned....can't think why. Anyway, when he did this one, he cocked up. When he put the wide shots in, he used a B roll where you could see the stage that the cube was sta...
Full version of our outing with the delightful Louise Wener and gang. My goodness she looks fab in this. I hadn't watched it for ages, and actually, I think it's really good. We had every Elvis impersonator in the UK along to Southend Airport I think. Kudos to Alison McClaughlin for the Stewardess outfit.
A stunning dive off Ibiza's West Coast, some spiritual bollocks at Es Vedre, the compulsory Ibiza sunset at Cala Vadella and some water torture in a posh health spa.
Kevin takes the cable car at Fuente de, in the Picos de Europa, before visiting the Guggenheim in Bilbao.
Kevin visits a Berber family in the Atlas mountains, in the Ourika valley. They live their lives in public, constantly having tourists wandering around their house, but I guess it earns them quite a good crust. Lovely people. Sadly, they were beset by tragedy a few years ago when the mum was lost in a flash flood.
Kevin then goes on to ride camels ...
Kevin eats sheep's head. Now I know that it's a cheap shot doing the "isn't foreign food weird" thing in a travel film, but during this was as much about having fun with Kevin (who is not an adventurous eater). Said, our guide, was good enough to play along as the stright man.
I have to say, the cheeks were ok, like fatty lamb. The brain isn't some...
Kevin takes the overnight sleeper train from Tangier to Marrakech.
This was version 2 with the lyrics captioned. Some new Shots, Hi Res.
"Standing Outside A Broken Phonebooth With Money In My Hand"
Kevin Kennedy having it large on Ibiza, with some attractive youg German/Lithuanian girls, for comic effect.
Animated title sequence for Kevin's Spanish Capers which I commissioned from 422. The idea was to do something with a Saul Bass look, which in the end owed as much to Catch Me If YOu Can as anything else. Works really well with the music, and has the Man In a Suitcase recurring figure of Kevin, really quite neatly done.
The sequence was used to ill...
My attempt at making a "cool" video for Man Utd in their treble winning season, 1999.
The video was supposed to be based around some brooding, moody portrait shots of each player, shot on grainy black and white film. Sadly, the labs in London put it through a colour bath, and screwed it up. So the task of making a cool video became a bit harder, gi...
A great pop song by one of the better bands we worked with in the mid-nineties Britpop era. The single didn't do that well, and they didn't get the success they might have had.
The video commissioner for the record label was a prize dufus. "I want it to be crisp, but soft", "Will you be shooting off the legs?" being two of his prize comments at th...
Finally a decent version of Selling Jesus. Unfortunately the strobing doesn't agree with youtube too well, but it's still better than the other two versions in my stream. I love this video. There's more information about the making of this video on the other versions in my stream.
This was my original version of the For An Angel video, with the butterflies in the breakdown section. Paul didn't like having butterflies on him very much, and later wanted a re-edit without them in. The video was filmed mostly in Xcaret eco park south of Cancun, with some shots from Xpuha beach (there's now an all inclusive resort where the beach...
Scratchy film projections, a red dress, a blonde wig, a union jack t-shirt....all good ways to make a simple performance video memorable. One of the earliest GobTV vids...sorry about the rough version, it's nth generation copy.
The new one for the Wildhearts, the best band in the world. Always a pleasure to work with them.
Some fun "making of.." material from our Wildhearts "New Flesh" shoot. It was a fun afternoon despite the 90 degree heat.
We had some Kerrang readers/listeners down to take part in the video, which became School of Rock for a while. The teens needed help with their moves.
So, what do you reckon? Do we go for a cool and polished Wildhearts video, or...
PUNK ROCK!!
S*M*A*S*H were the flag-bearers of the so called New Wave of New Wave. How NME was that?
Still. we liked them, a lot.
This video gave us a chance to play with punk imagery, which for a pair of saddos like GOBTV was good fun.
And Louise looks ace.
Tony De Vit (RIP)
This is a rare, not often seen video which we made for Brummie house DJ Tony De Vit (playing the Svengali/Dali here. The budget was low (par for the course at PWL), so we made the most of an art dealer friend's generosity...we shot it in his house (the same house, trivia fans, that Placebo's first vid was shot in).
It was a laugh.
We loved this track, being big Clash fans. The idea was to do a "Gangsters living it large on the Costa Del Crime" video. The band were a bit prickly to say the least, and matters weren't helped by the fact that it pissed down all week. So instead of larking about in the sun on their yacht and on Jet Skis, surrounded by babes on the beach....they g...
There's a version with good sound in My Videos now.
Full version. Skin is pregnant with the rockstar, Jesus, who is bigger than the Beatles....she travels through the deep South with a fundamentalist Christian truck driver who makes it his business to sort her out.
Don't ask about the sheep.
The script said "We start with Cathy Come Home, then God flies in dressed as Superman and turns a monkey into Clint Sex God, then they are joined for a jolly knees up by Graham as a boxer, the twins from Neighbours, girl bodybuilders, ballroom dancers and some monkey suits".
It made sense at the time. It must have been good gear.
The video in full. As I've said before, between me and A&M we managed to cock up the styling, and I might have been better shooting all against green screen instead of wafting a terrified Patty around fifty feet in the air on a cherry picker....but watching this for the first time in years, I kind of like it again. I love the infra-red stuff.

This is such a great video. Totally GobTV. Political, mad and funny. Cameos from John Peel, Mark E Smith, Boy George, Justin Sullivan (New Model Army), Joolz, Billy Bragg, Michael Franti, Miles Hunt (Wonderstuff), the guy from Kitchens of Distinction, Leslie (Ruby), Boy George (bless him) and probably a few others. Oh yes, Sinead O'Connor couldn't ...
New video for Vib Gyor.

One Bolex, one light, one band, one location, one pretty cool video (though the compression on here isn't great).
We shot this in a cave venue in Bergen called Hulen. Fab band, and lovely people. Go look them up www.myspace.com/serenamaneesh
The fantastic Molotov Jive...outrageously good, young, Swedish. and sexy as fuck.
The pilots thing was inspired by "Catch Me If You Can", and was the idea of Rock'n'Roll svengali Ian Hunter (no, not that one, the one from Plan 9 Management).
The video was shot over a couple of lovely days, lots of fun, in Barcelona. Thanks to Icon-International and...
Shot in Webridge, Surrey, UK, which is an apt substitute for Apartheid South Africa. One scene which was supposed to happen in this video involved lots of multi-ethnic kids invading the white family's garden and then frolicking in the pool of privilege. That was until our esteemed producer told us that he hadn't organised said kids, and was popping...
This is a high res version.
Made this one in 2004. On the same label as Happy Life (ALBERT). Paul Isola, the singer would be one of the cleverest people I've met in the biz, and I really liked him.
This was shot on film in about 4 hours, very cheaply at a former blast furnace in Rotherham, Yorkshire (thanks Magna).
Great band. Excellent live.

Natacha Atlas and unrequited love. A bit of drop out at about 3 min 15 unfortunately.
Swells wrote a treatment about arab princes on white chargers, moorish castles and white andalucian villages...a real epic story. Unfortunately, the budget was 7 grand, and we were in Barcelona. So I had to improvise.
This is an odd, bollywood inspired romantic ta...
Not my finest hour, but quite funny. This was meant to be a Costa del Crime pastiche, gangsters (in a Sabotage stylee) lots of sun, sexy girls, jet skis, yachts, golf, all that. So we went to the Costa del Sol (Fuengirola/Mijas), and it absolutely pissed down for the entire week. Hence some of the unplanned interiors, and the rather Pennine look to...
An Irish sub-Nirvana band. Video shot in the Yorkshire Dales at Goredale Scar near Malham. The camera is in a remote controlled helicoter.
The Kurt Cobain wannabe guitarist in this band distinguished himself by being the least charming fellow I have met in a 20 year long career.
SHot on 35 mm by the very wonderful and sadly missed, Ian Owles. Some of the still grabs from this are amazing. I'll put them up at www.flickr.com/borolad259
UPDATE...video posted in full now.
This really rocks. We shot it at a derelict mental hospital just outside Epsom. Skin used to wear the cross on her head. We suggested that it would be better on her face, and a stage look was born. The video story is that Skin, a young gay black woman, is carrying the unborn Jesus. She is picked up by a redneck tr...
UPDATE...I've posted the video in full now.
This song is from Patty's first album "Living With Ghosts". Unfortunately I made a bit of a hash of handling the record company. The footage of Patty cutting her hair and the wandering about was shot on a Bolex and is really nice I think. Where I fucked up was not being strong enough when she was glammed ...
Just a short clip, but a good one. I love this video. Louise looks fantastic in the specially made retro Air Hostess outfit. We had every Elvis in Britain on set, which was at Southend airport funnily enough.
Great song too.
This is a bunch of GobTV clips cut for a showreel.
Original "butterfly" version now posted in my videos.
Berlin's top DJ and all round good egg tries to be cool in the sweltering heat of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
This is the PG version. The X rated version features butterflies on Paul's face...he didn't like the butterflies much.
The true stars of this video are obviosly the two young girls play...
This is just an awesome performance video. This was before they had to change their name to X-CNN for obvious reasons. I couldn't help liking them: the poster campaign for their single "Young Stupid and White" featured the silly hatted Jamiroquai silhouette logo was brilliantly funny. Even if Jay did send the boys round.
I've met a fair few lost ta...
She's mad this lass, in a "Look at me, I eat worms and jam", Bjork bonkers, kind of way. Mind you, she's not as mad as the silly hippy from their entourage that wandered along this London Underground line which was switched off, and onto a live and very busy line.
I think the smoke we caused might have alarmed one or two people on that neighbourin...
